Climb the walls (and the rocks)

The Adventure: "Get Vertical" rock climbing lessons at Prairie Walls offer beginning climbers an assisted leap into the exciting world of rock climbing. The two-hour, hands-on introductory climbing class will teach you basic safety skills and give you a chance to start climbing with an instructor guiding your climb. You can continue to climb after your lesson has ended, and then return with a free pass at a later date. Prairie Walls has 9,500 square feet of highly featured climbing walls with many different routes to climb. The padded landing surfaces will ease your fears as you climb to new heights.
Climbing "Highs": Climbing is more than just your average workout. According to the Prairie Walls website, climbing can not only improve your problem- solving and teamwork skills, but also improve your strength.
Where You Go: 4420 19th Street NW, Rochester.
What You Pay: Intro classes are offered Saturdays 2-4 p.m. and Tuesdays 6-8 p.m., $35. Class includes free rental as well as free pass to return during the two weeks after class. Day pass to climb after lesson, $13. Memberships available. Rental equipment required, package offered for $10.
