The Ultimate Outdoor Adventure Guide

Dive through the sky

By Anna Stevens

The Adventure: Looking for a bird’s eye view, with
the wind in your hair? The Minnesota Skydiver’s Club
(based in Waseca) offers the instruction, gear, and
plane ride you need to skydive in the area. Skydiver
Chris Meyer invites adventurers who think they may
want to try skydiving to come out and watch the club’s
operations for a few hours to observe the process and get
their safety questions answered. Meyer says of the club, “We
truly want more people to enjoy, at least once, this awesome sport we love.” Instructors will work with you one-on-one to provide as much learning as possible. When it comes time for you to take your giant leap out of a plane, you can show off in the sky to your friends and family below, who are welcome to watch from the jump site. You should plan on spending the entire day at your jump site as the weather will decide when you actually get to jump. Pack a picnic and enjoy your exciting day of diving through the sky.

Why You'll Jump: Meyer says folks are drawn to skydiving for different reasons. “Some people just crave excitement and speed. Some do it for personal growth—to overcome a fear or to do something that requires courage. Some people decide to skydive because they have seen the videos and just think it looks like a lot of fun.”

Where You Go: Waseca Municipal Airport, 35493 110th St., Waseca.

What You Pay: Static line training and one jump, $200; training and five jumps, $325; Tandem training and jump, $220.
