Fish Tacos at Pescara

By Megan Malugani

The dish: Fish Tacos
The place: Pescara, 150 S. Broadway, 280-6900
The price: About $10

What you’re eating: The fish—normally a blend of fresh walleye, mahi mahi, and another type of whitefish—is pan seared and deglazed with a bit of lime vinaigrette. It is served atop crunchy Asian slaw and alongside a combo of homemade avocado cream and fresh pico de gallo. Queso fresco and cilantro micrograins are crumbled over the top.

Why you’ll love it: It’s no surprise the fish tacos took top honors as this year’s Best Seafood Dish. “It’s extremely refreshing. The citrus is a light lime flavor and goes extremely well with the fish,” says Jamie Feyen of Pescara. In addition, “it has a nice, tender, flakey texture, with many layers of flavor.” (Feyen notes that an alternate version of the fish tacos—made with laughing bird Caribbean shrimp instead of white fish, and available for $14—is also gaining popularity on Pescara’s menu.)
