Sweet Spots

Gooey goodness

By Megan Malugani

The Chocolate Cobbler at McGoon’s is “reminiscent of a brownie,” says kitchen manager Corey Elliott, but even more decadent. “It’s more like a layered, molten brownie because of its very rich, gooey texture.” It’s served warm with New York vanilla ice cream, Hershey’s chocolate, and whipped cream. Customers love it “because it’s so rich. It’s just a real treat,” Elliott says.

More spoons, please: Customers frequently share the Chocolate Cobbler. “It’s the perfect thing to split,” Elliott says.

Other sweet things: McGoon’s old-fashioned malts and shakes are a blast from the past. They’re made with real ice cream rather than soft serve, and are mixed just like at old soda fountains. “They’re quite popular in the summer,” Elliott says.

McGoon’s: 7 Second St. SW, 288-8130.
