Grouper at City Cafe
By Megan Malugani
The dish: Grouper
The place: City Café, 216 First Ave. SW, 289-1949
The price: About $22
What you’re eating: This grouper is fresher than fresh: it arrives at City Café within 24 hours after it is caught in the waters near Destin, Florida, by a fisherman who is a personal friend of the restaurant’s owners. Once in the kitchen, the grouper is lightly encrusted in fresh parmesan and panko bread crumbs. The grouper is served over a light basil cream sauce with fresh diced tomatoes and garlic mashed potatoes.
Why you’ll love it: “It’s delicious,” says City Café’s Denise Villeneuve. “There is nothing better than fresh-caught grouper, with it’s mild flavor and meaty texture.” Customers love the “freshness of the fish combined with the flavors of the ingredients. Guests rave about it and it’s our number one selling entree.”
