Taking the wait off

Midas Auto Service

By Kyle Hebert

You might think you’ve walked into the wrong business when you first step inside Midas Auto Service. “We want our customers to have a different experience and not think about their car while they’re here,” says owner Jeremy Babcock.

And different it is. A coy pond, complete with waterfall and a large mural by local artist Greg Wimmer, greets visitors as they enter. Both the service desk and waiting area are built to resemble Tiki huts, thatched roof and all. The walls are lined with bamboo. “We went to a meeting with a Tiki theme, came back and decided we wanted to do it here,” Babcock says.

The seating area features two comfortable couches where guests can read magazines, watch television, or sip the free coffee. There is also a fireplace that makes the spot so cozy customers have fallen asleep.

A second wall features more of Wimmer’s art. A combination 3-D sculpture and mural depicts a large red truck crashing through the front of the shop.
