Taking the wait off

Rochester Harley Davidson

By Kyle Hebert

The Harley-Davidson branded leather couches in the waiting room at Rochester Harley Davidson may be designed to appeal to lovers of the quintessential road bike, but the room was designed with every customer in mind. “It’s just a great place to hang out,” says Judy McGuire, the company’s vice-president. If you are shopping for a bike, or dreading the waiting room experience while your significant other browses the showroom, the waiting area will put you at ease.

The employees insist it is not a waiting room at all, but actually a lounge. To their point the couches are huge and inviting, and certainly comfy. They have even had a few people fall asleep there.

Free wi-fi access is provided for those who need to work while they wait. For entertainment the room offers a stack of recent biker magazines, as well as a television. The idea is to “make the customer feel welcome and more at home,” says McGuire.
And what better way to do that than food. Rochester Harley serves up seasonal popcorn varieties. Traditional buttered popcorn will transition to caramel corn as fall arrives. In addition to popcorn they also have a soft-serve ice cream machine.
