Don Grant
THEN: Grant was the main news anchor and business journalist for KTTC’s 6 and 10 p.m. weeknight newscasts from 1994-1998. He departed for a job as news anchor and financial reporter at KSN in Wichita, Kansas in 1998.
NOW: Grant says he is enjoying life in the ‘Sunflower State’ of Kansas with his wife, Barb, and two daughters, Abigail and Natalie. He is second vice president and wealth manager at Smith Barney, a division of financial firm Citigroup Global Capital Markets Inc. Although no longer working full-time in broadcasting, he provides financial planning ideas each morning on the Morning Newswatch for KNSS Radio and develops and reports business stories on the Business Beat, which airs on the KSN 10 p.m. newscast.
ROCHESTER MEM ORIES: Grant says the most notable news event during his stay in Rochester was the disappearance of Mason City TV news anchor Jodi Huisentruit in 1995. Grant found the most difficult stories to be ones that stirred up memories of the bitter Hormel strike decades ago. The most wonderful stories he remembers working on, Grant says, were “about the rich background of the great people who settled, grew and continue to develop the upper Midwest.”
